How Khaligraph Jones outshone Octopizzo in AFRIMMA in Dallas Texas

Just days after King Kaka did an epic talk at America’s Hot 97 radio, Khaligraph Jones returns to be the next Kenyan-American talk after he scooped a coveted rap award in Afrimma awards, Dallas. AFRIMMA stands for African Muzik Magazine Awards and is generally aimed for celebrating African musicians who have done a good job both in their music writing and video act. The event which took place on Sunday in Dallas Texas brought together some of the finest artists from Africa. As opposed to the expectation of many, Khaligraph emerged the best rap act in Africa, beating the likes of Octopizzo Namba Nane, Nyashinski, and King Kaka.

Actually, the battle between Octopizzo vs Khaligraph was a ruthless one, especially bearing in mind that the event was to take place on American soil. As we all know, Octopizzo has done quite a good number of his songs in America, whereas Papa Jones had never set foot in America before this Afrimma event. So the odds were kind of favoring Octopizzo over Khaligraph. However, when it comes to the real beef,” -RAP- ” Khaligraph is miles ahead of Octo.

A while ago Jones’s haters scorned the artist for trying to fake an American accent in all his music, despite having never set foot in America. But guess what turns out that his characteristic accent and his “Fake it till you make it” Mantra are among the reasons why the rapper is very popular in East Africa. For sure better days are coming for Papa Jones now that he has finally landed international recognition for his rare rapping talent. As we speak, Khaligraph is currently working on the visuals for his song that went viral a week ago, tagged “Juu ya Ngori”.

The rapper shared on his Instagram account images of what is supposed to be the new American-inspired video for Ngori. Nonetheless, Kenyan artists need to put in more effort into their lyrical work especially now that Nigeria is kind of bagging all the goodies from international awards. For instance, Davido dominated the 2018 Afrimma awards for the larger part. Kenya is lucky to have rare talents like Khali to represent its interests in such highly held music events.
