The last two weeks have been fire on Madilyn Bailey’s YouTube channel. A lot of fans have been requesting Madilyn to cover Marshmello’s Happier featuring Bastille. Ironically, EdSheeran had also released a single with the same title last year. Ed Sheeran’s Happier got its video sometimes in April 2018 while that of Marshmello and Bastille got its video in September 2018. It’s not a wonder that the latter has pulled more fans in such a short time. In Just two weeks, Marshmello’s Happier video has received over 32 million views on Youtube. This, of course, translates to millions of downloads across the internet.

Back to Madilyn’s own cover. Her fans have been sort of nagging her in a positive way to do a cover of each of the songs. Of course, just like all popular YouTubers, Madilyn had to listen to her fans. This time she came up with something even much better, a mashup of both Ed Sheeran and Marshmello Happier.  Madilyn Bailey’s cover of Happier is produced by Joseph Barba while the piano is done by Kazumi Shimokawa. In under four hours, her mashup got over  67,000views and as usual hundreds of comments.

Marshmello partnered with the British band Bastille, songwriter Daniel Campbell Smith and record producer Steve McCutcheon to co-write and produce Happier. The song debuted on August 17th this year (2018). It was released under the record label  Astralwerks.  Astralwerks is a record label made up of Marshmello, Dan and Smith. On the other hand, Ed Sheeran did his version of Happier with the help of Ryan Tedder and Benny Blanco. The song was included in his third studio album titled Divide.

The song is the fifth track on the album. Also, remember Ed Sheeran’s Divide Album was nominated in the 2018 American Music Awards for the pop/rock category. If we do a quick comparison of Ed Sheeran Happier vs Marshmello ft Bastille Happier, you can tell that Bastille’s version is still in the lead. The song has over 30 million views on YouTube in under two weeks.

Actually, Marshmello’s Happier was ranked  13th on the US Billboard Hot 100 and 4th in Australia (ARIA) on its peak day. In contrast, Ed Sheeran’s version was ranked 59th in the US Billboard Hot 100 and 16th in Australia (ARIA). You can watch Madilyn’smashup of the two songs below.
