One Direction facing £24million tax evasion bill — among the biggest debts in pop

After the departure of Zayn Malik, the English-Irish band, One direction has seen both some good days and bad days. Recently, the band was slapped with a £24million tax bill which could cripple the quadruplet’s finances. The said figure amounts to one of the biggest debts in the history of Pop. It’s also one of the severest debts in the UK for that matter. As Sun published 1D media settled for an alphabet payment scheme a while ago. This was done in order to distribute their earnings fairly after the departure of Malik.

What this implies is that the company has a number of payment categories labeled in alphabets e.g A, B, C… and so on. Thus their profits are shared out in the form of dividends. Consequently, this translates to a huge cut in taxes as opposed to a normal salary. 1D’s litigation team has since filed an appeal over this case.

This comes at a time when Louis Tomlinson from the band was slammed by his associate Robbie Williams when judging the band United Vibe on The X Factor. Robbie claimed that the upcoming band was miles ahead of the Directions. Later, his wife Ayda Field came in strongly to neutralize her husband’s statement. Williams will be mentoring the hot band in town throughout this season of the X-Factor.
