WCB superstars Rayvanny and Diamond Platnumz are back with a new track. This one is tagged Mwanza and is shot in the port city of Mwanza along the shores of Lake Victoria. Director Kenny Under Zoom did make some shots of the video in Dar es Salaam although the best fitting context was in the L.Victoria Port city. The song has a taste of the West African Afrobeat and of course after all the collaborations Diamond has done with Naija artists we can expect nothing short of this.
Apart from the West African Vibe, a good flow of native Swahili rhymes dropped by Rayvanny continue to hearten the song. If you actually listened to Vanny’s Makulusa featuring DJ Buckz and Maphorisa you will note that the artist kind of copied and pasted the beats in this new track. Nonetheless, as usual with Platnumz in the cast you wouldn’t fail to note some few lines of vulgar language.
As a matter of fact, key areas in the lyrics including the chorus use extremely profane language though shortened. For instance, the Kwangwaru hitmaker uses the word Nyege in the chorus, to mean Nyegezi, which is a small shopping center in Mwanza. Though by shortening the word, you get a completely different meaning that is sexual in nature. Basically, the word Nyege can be translated directly from Swahili to mean “horny”. All the same, the song is already becoming definitely a hit in East Africa just hours after its release.
This video must have packed over 1000 people in it. Looks like it was shot in a market probably Soko La Nyegezi Stendi.
